Actress Natasha Richardson Critically Injured In Skiing Accident

Award-winning actress Natasha Richardson was rushed to a Montreal hospital on Monday after reportedly suffering a serious head injury in a skiing accident at the Mont Tremblant resort, according to the Web site IrishCentral.com.

Natasha Richardson’s husband, “Taken” actor Liam Neeson, 56, reportedly rushed from the Toronto set of his upcoming film “Chloe” when he learned of the accident.

“Liam Neeson left the Toronto set immediately to fly to Montreal upon news of his wife’s accident,” a rep for the film said in a statement to Canadian TV. “We do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best, and our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha Richardson and Liam and their family.”

Both People and IrishCentral reported that Natasha Richardson is suffering from a traumatic brain injury and is in critical condition. Representatives for Neeson and Natasha Richardson had not released a statement about the accident at press time.

London’s Evening Standard newspaper said Natasha Richardson, 45, had suffered a “traumatic head injury” at the ski resort, about 120 kilometres northwest of Montreal.

Corin Redgrave, Natasha Richardson’s uncle, told the newspaper: “I have heard this morning from a family representative about Natasha Richardson’s accident and am very saddened.”

Redgrave’s wife, Kika Markham, told The Star: “We know that she has had an accident but we really do not know any more details.”

“We are very concerned.”

Reports from People magazine say the actress was initially taken to Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, near the ski lodge at Tremblant, but was transported to Sacré-Coeur at around 5 p.m.

Natasha Richardson, an acclaimed actress of both screen and stage, was born in London to Vanessa Redgrave and British director Tony Richardson.
