Brad Pitt convinced Jolie to get pregnant

Angelina Jolie has credited her partner Brad Pitt for inspiring her to have children of her own, insisting that she “didn’t want to get pregnant” until she met him.

They subsequently adopted another son Pax in 2007, before welcoming biological twins, Vivienne and Knox, in 2008 and Angelina Jolie admits she was happy just to take in orphaned children, until Pitt convinced her to become a mother herself.

Angelina Jolie had already adopted son Maddox, now eight, when she met Brad Pitt, and went on to adopt daughter Zahara, now five, from Ethiopia before she became pregnant with the couple’s first biological child, Shiloh, born in 2006, reports contactmusic.com.

Actress, 34, was visibly moved as she toured the pediatric ward of Dario Contreras Hospital in neighbouring Dominican Republic, reports The Sun. Angelina Jolie reportedly met hospital staff treating injured Haitian children. She is planning to adopt an earthquake orphan.

Angelina Jolie discussed relief aid with the country’s president Leonel Fernandez and according to reports, spoke to him about the possibility of a Haitian becoming her seventh child. Angelina Jolie flew to Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince last night.

Jolie gives Pitt an olive tree

Angelina Jolie has bought Brad Pitt an olive tree for Valentine’s Day. A source said: “Angelina Jolie bought it from a nursery called The English Garden Centre in Valbonne, near their house. It’s a very special tree and cost her a fortune.”

Olive trees symbolise peace, longevity and stability and it is believed Angelina Jolie has bought the plant for Brad Pitt to further quash recent split rumours. The Valentine’s Day gift from Angelina Jolie, 34, may be an expensive purchase, but the pair – who are both known for their lavish spending – recently donated $1 million to help earthquake victims on the Caribbean island of Haiti.

John Terry sacked as England captain

Fabio Capello, the England manager, told Terry he no longer regarded him as the right person to lead the national football team during a brief meeting at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

“After much thought I have made the decision that it will be best for me to take the captaincy away from John Terry,” Capello said in a statement.

“As a captain with the team, John Terry has displayed extremely positive behaviour. However, I have to take into account other considerations and what is best for all of the England squad. What is best for all of the England team has inspired my choice.”

Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney have all expressed privately that they would be uncomfortable assuming the captaincy of their country if England’s coach Capello decides he wants a change of leadership after the weekend reports concerning Terry’s private life.

The Chelsea defender has come under fire from many quarters following the revelations he had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-girlfriend of England team-mate Wayne Bridge.

The 29-year-old was considering stepping down but it is believed he is now looking to stay after receiving messages of support from some of his closest friends in the dressing room.

Terry has already held talks with England general manager Franco Baldini about the situation and will discover his fate when he comes face-to-face with Capello on Friday.
